One of the nice things about using Ubiquity as the system for
Desolation is the cross-pollination of rules mechanics, providing more options for all.
For example, another player in these very forums expressed interest in the Continuous Combat rules from HEX even though they've fallen out of favor due to some glitches in the details. But even though they're not officially part of the
Desolation RPG, they're still available for those interested who may want to experiment.
Personally, I like the fact that this game provides nifty mechanics for doing magic and fantasy combat in Ubiquity, above and beyond the very cool setting.
