Greymalkin Designs Presents Desolation: Survivors

Experience story-driven role playing in the post-apocalyptic fantasy world of Desolation where high fantasy is brought low. This year, Greymalkin Designs is proud to offer a full schedule of RPG events focusing on Survivors, its first supplement to Desolation. In a twist to the Desolation setting, games can take place before, during and after the Apocalypse that nearly destroys the high-fantasy setting. To coincide with the Gen Con release of Survivors, this year's events will focus on surviving the Night of Fire, the Long Winter that immediately followed, and the new world that is rising up from the ashes.

Try to survive the chaos of the night the world nearly came to and end as a young apprentice at one of the Empire's many academies of Sorcery. Just because the world's being destroyed doesn't mean you can't have some fun with it. "Escape from Pig Pimple's" (RPG0900291, RPG0900293) is a tongue-in-cheek adventure that follows the harrowing adventure of a group of apprentices who lost their teachers during the Night of Fire, when magic turned on its masters. With the magic innate to the academy fighting you at every turn, will you ever escape?

The effects of the Night of Fire lasted well beyond the single, horrific night. In "A Cold Reality," (RPG0900299, RPG0900300) you roleplay one of the "lucky" ones who survived the Apocalypse, only to face a Long Winter filled with starvation, disease and life-and-death choices. After six months of snowfall, food is scarce, which forces the normally reclusive kobolds of the Oruskan Wilderness south. Just when your characters wonder if the sun will ever shine again, they notice a scouting party of the notorious pack hunters. Will your characters defend the struggling community against the kobolds, or should they attempt the unthinkable and parlay with the beastmen.

In Survivors, players can choose to roleplay the Oruskan races of kobolds, goblins and orcs as player characters. Now that civilization has fallen, the Oruskans' primitive and savage lifestyle is serving them well. In "Frontier Justice," (RPG0900303, RPG0900304) players have the opportunity to see the ruined world through the eyes of the Oruskans. You and your kind were second-class citizens in the Before, but things have changed. Oruskans will no longer tolerate the persecution and bigotry of humans, dwarves and their ilk. The time for Oruskans to take a stand and fight back is now!

These are just three of the eight Greymalkin events for 2009, which includes a continuation of "Any Port in a Storm," one of last year's hit adventures. In "After the Storm," (RPG0900297, RPG0900298) roleplay the same characters as they race home to protect their village against invaders. In other events, you could face zombies, mutated circus freaks or ruthless robber barons. Check out the complete list of events below:
